Our Last "Single" Christmas

This was the last Christmas as a family of two. But it was my favorite Christmas yet.
Christmas Eve we spent the evening together, just the two of us at a very nice restaurant. Sweetie gave me the best present ever that night.
Christmas morning we took our time getting up and I made hot chocolate while Cary finished up preparing some presents. I am so thankful for my husband. He makes life enjoyable. No, that doesn't do him justice. Cary makes life extraordinary. We turned up the Christmas music and danced all over the living room while singing to Felis Navidad. This is one of my least favorite holiday songs but for those few minutes nothing was more perfect. My presents for Cary this year were nothing spectacular. We decided to keep it simple. But with every gift, he tore open the wrapping paper and like small children we would cheer together and high-five once the gift was revealed. We laughed a lot. We hugged a lot. I was full of joy and excitement. Our time together was priceless.
The rest of the day was spent with each family. This was the first Christmas that only the immediate family was present. No aunts & uncles or extended family to share in the meal. I appreciated that. There seemed to be more laughter and less formality to the day. When my head hit the pillow my heart was full. Next year Christmas will be a whole new experience but this year was fantastic. Satisfying.
